Decision making and cooperative interaction via coupling agents in organizationally distributed systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper develops a methodology for decision-making in organizationally distributed systems where decision authorities and information are dispersed in multiple organizations. Global performance is achieved through cooperative interaction and partial information sharing among organizations. The information shared among organizations is contrived using modified Lagrangian relaxation techniques. Novel to the methodology is that no single master problem with a global view of the system is required to guide the decision process. Rather, multiple artificial decision entities, termed Coupling Agents, are associated with subsets of coupling constraints. The proposed generic model can be applied to decision-making problems with a variety of mathematical structures. In this paper the methodology is applied to parameter design problems to illustrate the behavior of the proposed methodology in the realm of nonlinear optimization.

Cooperative network flow problem with pricing decisions and allocation of benefits: A game theory approach
Several real problems in telecommunication, transportation, and distribution industries can be well analyzed by network flow models. In revenue management, pricing plays a primary role which increases the profit generated from a limited supply of assets. Pricing decision directly affects the amount of service or product demand. Hence, in traditional maximum flow problem, we assume that the dema...

A concept of a cooperative multi-agent architecture is proposed to develop an intelligent process planning system. Traditional process planning is often suffers from limitations such as lack of integration between design and manufacturing operations, limited geometry to which parts can be processed, non-availability of important functional modules like tool and fixture selection, inability to g...

In this paper, we describe a decision support system for cooperative transportation planning in the German food industry where several manufacturing companies share their fleets to reduce transportation costs. Besides using vehicles of their fleets, there are different outsourcing options offered by logistics service providers, but these are muchmore expensive. The decision-making kernel of the...

Automated negotiation systems with self-interested agents are becoming increasingly important. One reason for this is the technology push of a growing standardized which separately designed agents belonging to diierent organizations can interact in an open environment in real-time and safely carry out transactions. The second reason is strong application pull for computer support for negotiatio...
